2 medium apples, peeled and diced (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith recommended)
1 tablespoon butter
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional, for thicker sauce)

For the Crumble Topping:

1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup rolled oats
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
Pinch of salt
3 tablespoons cold butter, cubed

For Serving:

Vanilla ice cream
Caramel sauce for drizzling

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Apple Filling

In a small skillet or saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
Add diced apples, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
Cook 5–7 minutes until apples soften and become glossy.
Stir in cornstarch if you want a thicker caramel-like sauce.
Divide the warm apple mixture into your mini cast-iron skillets.

Step 2: Make the Crumble Topping

In a bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.
Add cold butter cubes and use your fingers to rub the butter into the dry mix until crumbly.
Spoon the crumble evenly over the apple filling.

Step 3: Bake

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Place skillets on a baking sheet.
Bake 18–22 minutes, or until the topping is golden and crisp and the apples are bubbling.

Step 4: Serve Warm

Top each mini skillet with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Drizzle with warm caramel sauce.
Serve immediately while hot and bubbling!

Kitchen Tips

• Use a mix of sweet + tart apples for the best flavor.
• Add chopped pecans to the crumble for crunch.
• For extra caramel flavor, stir 1 tablespoon caramel sauce into the apple filling before baking.
• This recipe works beautifully in ramekins or a small 6-inch baking dish if you don’t have mini skillets.
