Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Toffee Squares

Rich brown butter mixed with chocolate chips and crunchy toffee over a buttery shortbread base — indulgent and irresistible!

Ingredients

For the Shortbread Base:

1 cup all-purpose flour
¼ cup sugar
½ cup cold butter, cubed

For the Brown Butter Layer:

½ cup butter
½ cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
¾ cup flour
½ teaspoon baking powder
½ cup chocolate chips
½ cup toffee bits


Instructions

Make the Shortbread Base:

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Mix flour and sugar. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.
Press into a baking dish.
Bake 10 minutes.

Make the Brown Butter Layer:

Brown the butter in a saucepan until golden and nutty.
Pour into a bowl and cool slightly.
Whisk in brown sugar, egg, and vanilla.
Stir in flour, baking powder, chocolate chips, and toffee bits.
Spread over the warm crust.

Bake:

Bake 20–25 minutes until golden.
Cool before slicing.
